You can knock a Wolverine down, but it will only come back stronger. As the walls of our old high school came tumbling down, an idea sprang from the rubble that could serve to extend the legacy of Elyria West High School beyond those walls.
The Elyria West Alumni Scholarship Fund (EWASF) was created to provide educational opportunities for college, trade school or apprenticeship programs located in the United States for any student, teacher or staff member of the former Elyria West High School. Their relatives would be eligible as well.
The EWASF currently has over $50,000 pledged to get it started; our goal is to reach $500,000. That would allow us to provide multiple meaningful scholarships for “OUR WOLVERINE FAMILY.” The Foundation will market the scholarship to Lorain County and it would be our responsibility to present it to the rest of our Alumni. We need volunteers from the various classes to assist with seeking donations or to help advertise the Scholarship opportunity to the over 3,500 members of Wolverine Nation.
